MCCU Women ready to host England Women's 'A' Team

2 May, 2012

The start of the cricket season has not been quite what Loughborough Women's MCCU were hoping for. With only one match completed in near arctic conditions against an Invitation X1, and another two rained off mid-game, it has been a month spoilt by rain. But although the build up has not been quite the 'splash' the women's MCCU had hoped for, the upcoming BIG Match vs England A, is looking to set the season off to a scorcher. With the England women's academy just returned from a tour of South Africa, which saw them lose 2-1 in both the t20 and ODI series against South Africa women, they will prove tough opposition for the Loughborough attack.
The academy side boast some big names, including Charlotte Edwards, but Loughborough will be hoping their strength and hard graft throughout the winter, can all be put to good use as they hope to put on an impressive display.
The match is set for 12pm on the 3rd May, and looks to showcase some great cricket and some new faces in the Loughborough team from previous years. The only thing to dampen the day will be the weather. Fingers crossed for a dry afternoon, and even some sun to tip off what is bound be be a cracking match.
